For Cole, A Lost Love
After watching both of the episodes The Demon Who Came In From The Cold and Exist Strategy, I realized just how bittersweet Phoebe and Cole's love was. At season three's beginning, fire ignited unexpectedly for both Phoebe and Cole. But it was more surprising on Cole's end. For one, the surprise stimulated from the fact that Cole was the demon Belthazar who was sent by The Triad to defeat and destroy the Halliwell sisters. That's a big one, too. It meant that he was evil and at that point are train of thoughts were "evil bad" which meant that we had only black and white on Charmed (except for in season one when Prue falls for Brandon in the episode When Bad Warlocks Go Good). There was no middle ground (which Phoebe comes to find later on). And two, because we hated him before we loved him. We were led to believe him as only a demon. It didn't come until later on, however, that love was to flower along with our likability toward Cole. Personally, it was the collision course for which they were headed for that made the love between the two more high fashioned. That along with fire and passion (clearly seen on account of the actors) made Phoebe and Cole's love soar with epic proportion. And with them together, hearts leading minds, the love between them existed so easily. But (as we all know) in the end love wasn't enough. Thus, so it is that Cole became a lost love for Phoebe.
