A Great Read!
Viewers have seen new characters come and go on the WB’s former one-hour show, and most of those characters are either the sisters’s love interests or demonic foes. However, there are some Charmed characters that don’t fit into those two categories. Specifically, one such character is Victor Bennett. Victor is the father of Prue, Piper and Phoebe. He’s a businessman and a non-magical entity. The latter character trait is probably why Victor is one of my most beloved Charmed people. He’s a portal for mortals to enter into the magical world, just like Darryl. Read’s made brief appearances, but I feel like his Victor character is helpful in adding to the depth of the three sisters. I love the humor and the emotion that James Read brings to the show. The actor who first played Victor didn’t have any softness or skills as far as I can tell that made him fit into the show, but Read is amazing. In his feature debut, which I believe is season three’s We All Scream For Ice Cream, James Read captivates my heart. His father/daughter moments with Shannon are so great. You can actually believe that they have some history...bad history. And then Read’s and Shannon’s moment in the Ice Cream truck – WOW! I was totally bawling at Read’s “I’m not leaving here without you” line. And his other Charmed appearances only get better and better. James is truly a great Read!
What are your thoughts on James Read? Did you prefer him over the season one Victor? And what are your most favorite James Read episodes?
P.S. And I'm glad that the Charmed writers made him great at being a grandpa, especially considering his lack of parental care with his children.

"James is truly a great Read!"
Ha. Rudy, you are really something. You and your little sayings cheerup my days.
As for James Read, I enjoy almost all of his episodes. Hyde School Reunion was a little..eh...at the beginning, but it picked up good with Chris and Victor and the Piper-dies-when-Chris-is-14 moments. I also enjoyed Victor's return in the season seven finale. I'm glad too. I like that they give him his own leg to stand on, and a shoulder for the sisters.
Hey, Rudy. Why are you in season three? Have you already finished up season five?
I'm still watching my way through...on Cat House. Although, I've watched The Day Magic Died twice. Once before any other s5 episodes and second when watch the season as a whole.
I liked Read in The Good, The Bad and The Cursed. His talk with Leo was priceless, and his anger even funnier. And I especially like Phoebe's line to Victor: "well don't look at me, I've been shot." Hee. Hee. God, she's good in that episode.
No. I haven't finished up season five. I've been watching it along with season three. I can't help it. I'm on a Cole fixation and i can't stop. I went back to season three so that I could prolong his presence in season five. Sad, I know.
And Anon, I like that season three episode as well. It's actually one of my favorite Victor, S3 and Phoebe episodes.
I never really liked Phoebe in that episode. Well I really never liked an episode about her premonition power because they were forgotten later on, like season five's The Eyes Have It. Wished they would have done more with that premon-power upgrade.
P.S. Don't worry too much Rudy. I just finished the 100th episode so you are not alone.
That's what pissed me off. Phoebe has always had this problem with her powers. She gets upgrades. They get forgotten. More pop up and they down. It's ridicules. That is why I haven't watched it in awhile.
Oh crap. I forgot to comment on Read. From what I've watched on the ealier seasons, he was awesome. Made the Halliwell family more sentimental and more "family." I enjoyed his surprise about Patty at Piper's wedding and their talk in P3. Victor and Patty should have stayed together. Sorry Paige.
I agree. I would have totally loved to see them together. And everytime Patty has come back they play on her and Victor, like in Cheaper by The Coven or Forever Charmed. However, I thought she was in the sunset with Sam in season two. The show tries to play her with both of them, which is ridiculous. I choose Victor over Sam, too.
Yeah, I love Vic, too.
I highly enjoyed Victor and Patty in Cheaper by the Coven. Their involvement in that episode is the only way I'd watch it twice.
